Is this the place for Kuga advice?
« on: October 08, 2019, 08:59:57 PM »
Hi,
After 11 years of happy Galaxy mk2 ownership, my old bus finally died. Have now got a Kuga mk1 2.0 163. I have a couple of questions:
Is this the right place on the site?
Can anyone recommend a decent cable/ interface to connect an android tablet to the obd connection please?
Thanks

The Kuga is (surprisingly) based on the C1 (aka Focus, CMax and various Mazda and Volvo models) platform, so this is the best match on here.

Have a look at the car crash videos on Youtube and watch out for instances of SUV/Crossover accidents with virtually anything.  The SUV/Crossover ends up on its roof with even the slightest bump on the side.  There's even one rolled by a Smart car.  Put me _right_ off them.....

Well, I'm a bit disappointed.  I've been on this forum since early 2012, and this is the first time I've had a negative and unhelpful response.
I have bought the car, any car is dangerous if you crash , but haven't had a crash since passing my test in 1973.
Rather than hearing why someone chose not to buy one, I would have really liked to have heard advice on the question I asked, namely :
Please can anyone recommend a bluetooth adapter for forscan for a 2011 Kuga?

I had an elm 327 Bluetooth adaptor when I purchased forscan a while back. Make sure you have the type with switch on and is specifically for forscan.
Got mine on eBay for about £20 and it worked fine.

I think it would be better to get a cabled one because Bluetooth can be a bit fiddly. There are loads on ebays and theyíre all basically the same, just sort by price and buy the cheapest.

I have not seen a Kuga but the name sounds like Cougar - a sleek powerful animal of the jungle, with fierce teeth and claws but so gentle with its young and a lovely soft underbelly that you just want to rub if you can risk the danger that doing so might bring. Donít think much of jaguars though (they usually in my experience seem to be driving 10mph less than the flow of traffic)
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all.

A wired one is only any good if you want to use with a laptop, Bluetooth and WiFi ones are good for phone and iPad connections.

Ah yes, very good point!! It had not occurred to me that one would use such a device with a smartphone or iPad!

I have a Bluetooth one as well as my cables one but it can be a bit fiddly to get it working. Oftentimes I cant tell if itís turned on (light is upside down when itís plugged in) and the software often canít find the device. But obviously a very good idea if using with a smartphone or iOS! He he!

I answered one of your questions and then responded to another one, with evidence.  I found the evidence helpful in my choice of vehicle.  When my vehicle, stationary in a queue, was hit by a much larger vehicle, it didn't end up on its roof.  Only a sample of one but more evidence.

I have no opinion on bluetooth adaptors as I find many bluetooth devices to be unreliable.

No need for disappointment.
