Ford Galaxy - Retrofitting The Load Cover

This details how to retrofit the load cover assembly. You'll need:

The front mounting plastics
Two brackets with screws (FINIS: 1051362 and 1051363 @ about £22 each - Read the note below!)
The rear retaining plastics and retention nuts (4x FINIS 7386488 @ 40p)
The load cover itself
Rivets and a rivet gun

Note: The two brackets are cheapest from a VW dealer with Part Numbers: 7M3868795 (N/S) and 7M3868796 (O/S) at £7.28 each. Since all of the assembly is VAG made then its a safe assumption that the rest of the plastics, clips. screws and parts can be sourced cheaper from them!

First, both rear quarter panels will need to be removed, see > HERE <

The plastics and brackets can be seen here, along with how the end assembly fits together:

941-0
957-1

First up, mount the two retention brackets. One either side and then riveted into position as shown:

937-2

The next stage is to locate the outlines on the rear of each panel which need to be cut out, there are two outlines per panel - a front and a rear:
955-3
939-4

Note the outlines are guides only, mark well within the guides and cut out carefully. Remember its always easier to cut more out later but impossible to put it back in! The three example photos below can be expanded by clicking to see how how they were cut out. Note the smaller plastic (Rear retention) piece requires two holes to be drilled for the shaft to fit through, again the markings are present on the panel but take take that it lines up before drilling! The retention plastic can now be fitted in place with the two nuts.

943-5

                       945-6          949-7          953-8

947-9

With the retention plastic's and brackets in place the panel can now be refitted. Once its back in position the front plastics can be screwed to the bracket and the load cover mounted in position:
