Air con
« on: September 23, 2015, 12:17:42 pm »
Had the air con regassed and checked for leaks but still have the flashing control panel on start up
I have a 05 1.9tdi ghia I thought I have duel zone air con
The rear has roof vents with direction controls
When regassed the garage could only put 650kg of gas in
Sticker in engine bay says
1 750kg
2 1100kg
Even tried manual adding but system said it was full and wouldn't let him add any more gas
Question do I need to rest the faults with vagcom or is there more of a problem

Thanks for any help

I think your first step needs to be to scan for fault codes to see why the panel is flashing, there could be a number of reasons but you need to know where to start looking.

As above, you need to find out what the system is complaining of.

650Kg is an interesting amount of as though, it would be worth checking the supply pipes to the rear unit are intact and havn't been cut and joined etc.

Will scan when I get a chance tomorrow
The garage said they don't fill to max as to not overfill
But as I said he tried to add more and it wouldn't let him
But will start with a scan and see where we go from there

So scanned before fault code
00792
Cleared fault code system stopped flashing just need a good test now
Do you think if I take it back they will be able to add any more gas as it only let them put in 650g instead of the 1200 for the duel system
Mirez couldn't see any pipes joined and it use to blow cold

So according to Ross-Tech that fault code relates to the pressure switch. As you were saying it was only possible to get 650g of refrigerant gas back in when the system (with rear A/C) should accept 1100g, it sounds like there may be a blockage somewhere- e.g, an expansion valve, or damaged (e.g crushed) pipework preventing gas flow.

Has the air conditioning ever worked since you've owned the car?

If you put your registration number (or VIN, if the number has been changed from new) in here (use the vehicle tab in the grey row) it will tell you precisely with what it come out of the factory.

Cheers says automatic air con and rear seat climate control
As I said I have roof vents
I rest and no warning for 5 days then today the display is flashing so I assume I have a leak I asked if they had put the dye in but doesn't look like they have so will get another Groupon and take it another garage and tell the I need the dye
