MK2 Galaxy 05 1.9 Tddi - Brake light stays on the dash no brake lights, also glow plug stays flashing.. bought new switch which is green the one taken out was a sort of lilac in colour looked on other sites for the correct one and some say a pale blue!!!! any one know of the correct one or even a part number to help.
-
Despite colour did you try fitting it to see if it worked?
-
Just done some googling seems latest switch is green (4 pin switch) vw part number 1J0 945 511 A
-
Have you checked brake light bulbs as the flashing dash lights may be related to blown bulb.
-
Hi, thank-you for answers, Yes did try the green switch didn't work took it back shop ordered another one which was black they say it was a modified version but should be the right one, still don't work all bulbs and fuses checked all okay, must say I'm stumped, going to take it to a garage tomorrow to have diagnostics checked???
-
Is your Galaxy a manual or an automatic?
-
Hi..
it's a manual!
-
Have you checked for voltage at plug for the switch?
-
I'd consider checking for wiring loom damage/ shorted wiring where the loom passes from the vehicle body into the tailgate.
-
Would that effect brake lights as wiring for them is behind the quarter trim?
-
If there was a short into the high level centre brake light possibly?
-
Thank you will take a look.. Drove it just over 500 miles last week parked it up on Friday night, brake light switch not working Sat morning - don't make sense :(
-
Oh yeah forgot about the high level light, now I see your thinking......its been a long day on naff all sleep!
