Bulb change on front

Hi all,how do you change bulbs on front of car.I have changed the side lights the through the hatch in the wheel arch before.I need to change the headlight bulb (h7).Thought I do both sides just in case.Whats the best way.

There are access panels in the engine bay to do the main and high beam bulbs.  However it is very tricky to hold them in place while you fit the clips without ending up touching the bulb glass.  I had a lot of trouble with (admittedly cheap bulbs) blowing very quickly, which turned out to be because they were dirty.  I now always remove the headlight to change the bulbs.  Also clean the bulbs with methylated spirits (and allow them to dry) before fitting them.  This will degrease them and reduce the chances of the blowing quickly.

Thanks,can you point me in the correct direction of access panels ,so I can see.Dont fancy taking off whole unit . >:(

If you have the handbook, then instructions are in there. If not:-

(i) Passenger (nearside). Open bonnet. Remove battery cover (big plastic cover between Coolant and washer bottle fillers).  It has two clips (Front left and right in the photo) you unscrew then lift front and slide forward. You can see the cover from there on the back of the headlight.

(ii) Drivers (offside). Open bonnet. Slide up and off access panel in front of air filter, similar cover on back of headlight to passenger side behind this.  The photo below shows the panel from the front with the headlight out.

cheers job took just over half hour .When changing bulb on passenger side  easier to remove battery .The little metal clamp that holds bulb on is much is easier to take off/on.

 Drivers headlight went yesterday  :( and I've been meaning to do both sidelights for a while (LED lights that had started flickering). Did them both last night and that took about 30min too, with removing both headlights.

My side lights went before, I used that little cover under wheel arch.Pity not big enough for main lights.

I've used that, but I like keeping the skin on my hands! 

You can't always get the leverage you need to turn the carrier and the drivers side is even worse as the air intake ducting that feeds the air filter reduces apace even further.

The passenger side had the flap missing so there was a lot of mud in the wing too!  Used a section of ice cream tub (the old thicker ones) and duct table to seal them up in the end!

I'm not after anything for it really, if you're willing to pay the postage.....

Hi thanks for the offer.  The liner is fine on mine, it's just the flap is missing.  I think all the road muck builds up in the grooves it's supposed to slide in then it comes out when you try to move it.  It's then a pain to get back in, so I suspect a garage may not take the time/care required to refit it properly so it falls out later and is lost.  I intend to leave both mine taped up as there is less chance of the muck getting through and building up.  This then hold the moisture on the pain/seams making them more prone to rust - that's my theory anyway.
