Bulkhead extension piece
« on: April 05, 2016, 07:57:39 PM »
Just an observation really....
Has anyone driven their 1.9tdi with extension piece off? The difference it makes to engine noise in cabin is huge,I have just done a quick blast to test turbo with vcds again before I put back together. The noise inside especially when cold is horrendous.

When I went on a sound deadening frenzy a few years back the biggest improvement came from covering the section of bulkhead above it. Its got two massive holes in it after all, one for the cabin air intake and the other for where that would be on the LHD version so it's to be expected really.

I might give it a go next time I do the pollen filter as maybe I should deaden the panel as well ;)

I might have a go when next have it all out as it can be quite noisy on motorway with the pd lump. Mine isn't helped by the engine sound deadening all gone.

My Galaxy didn't have an engine undertray or top cover when I bought it (the undertray damaged in a previous crash and not replaced and the top cover had been 'lost' or not refitted somewhere along the line), fitting these items has made it a fair bit quieter (I don't have the foam cylinder head jacket fitted though and I'm not going to spend nigh on a hundred quid to buy a new one!).
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!
