Title: Central Locking Mayhem

Hi, the central locking has just started going odd.

If you lock the driver's door, the other doors lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock... The driver's door remains open. It sometimes carries on. Started yesterday, I left it alone, walked past it an bour later and it was still locking, unlocking...

Must have stopped eventually as the battery hasn't drained.

I had a quick look through here and saw a post mention fuse 32. The fuse is fine, BUT it says it should be a 5, but there's a 7.5 in there.

I would say first port of call is check wiring from doors to body as they are known to break and short out causing all manner of weird electrical faults.
The incorrect fuse will not cause the issue but itís and indication something has happened before and it has been replaced but for wrong one.

Yes open the door and pull the rubber boot back,check all doors and the tailgate one.

Its either a broken wire in the drivers door loom, or a dead lock motor in the drivers door (given it doesn't move and the others do - the ecu is trying to get the locks to the same state as one another on the front doors and failing to do so).

Try using the key in the door if it works (or sit inside the car and lock using the handle from inside). If it locks and stays locked its probably the lock motor. Though check the wiring either way. The lock motor isn't dreadful to change if it comes to it, you need to remove the door handle to do it.

Only other thought is if one of the front door lock paddles is broken (usually causes the key to spin all the way round if you use it in the lock, or the lock barrel to fall out, or it fails to turn at all or won't turn 90 degrees in both directions) that might be causing it to play up. Again that is another poor piece of design as those paddles routinely break when used.

OK.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I tried to take the door trim off to have a look but couldn't.

I did notice that it stopped doing it when the door was open, so thought I could disconnect the switch that the door presses to say it's closed.

I pried it out and disconnected it, but it defaults to "closed" and it started locking, unlocking again.
I connected it again and let it dangle down so the door can close, which would have stopped it being annoying when driving.
We were only doing a short journey, so I thought I'd pop it back in place until I could fix it somewhere so it didn't break.

Hey presto. It's fixed.

Don't know how, I'm not questioning it too much as I'm just happy with the result.

99% sure it's temporary, but until it goes again, I'm smiling.

You don't need the trim off to look at the wires - just pull the boot back and you can see them (in the bit of the door where the hinges are)
