Title: Clutch & DMF change;
Post by: KingyMAK on January 29, 2017, 11:14:52 PM
First off, I'm DEFINITELY not going for an SMF, as I'm not chasing big power in this car!  :D

Basically, are these clutch and flywheels the same as the clutch & Flywheel kits in the ASZ/PD130 engined Golf/A3/Etc.?

I'm guessing they are, as they're both 240mm clutch plates, so I'd imagine the DMF the same?
It seems they're bumping up the price on parts via eBay, EuroParts, etc., just because it's a Sharan?
Or am I wrong here?

I'm not sure if all ASZ units fitted to the smaller vehicles such as the Golf etc. produce the same amount of torque as the Sharan, there was a difference in torque output (although not maximum power) between engines with the code ASZ and ASZ1 (https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy/engine-code-2092/msg12160/#msg12160). If the engines all have the same maximum power and torque output and are mated to the same transmission I can't see why the clutch/ flywheel arrangement would be any different between different vehicles but somebody may know different. The Sharans etc. are much heavier beasts than the Golf and other similar cars fitted with the same engine so it's possible the gearing is also different, not that this really affects the way that the clutch transmits power.
