Title: Correct oil - 1999 Galaxy 2.8 V6
Post by: markk on April 09, 2018, 12:25:11 PM
I have a 1999 Ford Galaxt 2.8 V6, with a mere 54,000 miles on it.

I've owned it since 2001 and had regular oil changes, but left it to the dealers to decide which oil to put in. However after some research I see 5W 40 and also 10W 40 coming up as possible choices.

Which is the correct one? I'm looking to put full synthetic in it (as always), perhaps putting in full synth changes the type required?

Congratulations on having an impressive engine, a lovely low mileage petrol Galaxy. Ideal for going around town without getting those pesky turbo vane problems. I imagine you can watch the needle go down on the motorways, but nice comfy car for local journeys for sure.

Now then, about your oil. It seems that most places don’t know what they’re talking about these days. I would check the owners manual and that will give you the correct answer. I can check my manual at home which will tell you, if you have lost yours.
