Flip Keys
« on: July 03, 2012, 05:44:55 pm »
Does anybody know if it's just the frequency that matters? I've seen a couple of flip keys claiming to be 433.92Mhz bu they were for an Audi? Getting fed up of key jabbing me in the leg when there in my pocket!

Yes, its EXACT frequency and manufacturer that's needed. Ohh and a spare PATS chip as the VAG one won't work ;)

Nope, 8Z0 is the Audi A2 code and a 3 button one wont work. You need a two button version running on 433.92 but most importantly using the Siemens codeset and not the HELLA set. "7M3 959 753" is your part number, its rare though so good luck!

Lol, thats the VW part number. The Mk2 Galaxy never came with a flip key, just the Mk3 which is a completely different system (along with all other Ford systems). You should be able to get that from VAG as it was also used on the Ibiza and Fabia - you just gotta match it all up. There are loads of HELLA ones out there but they won't work :( IIRC its about £56 for the fob without flip.

You'll also need to get a genuine blank, the ebay ones are a few microns thinner then the genuine stuff and when your locksmith cuts the second side he'll go through using the existing key's template.

Hi Martcool,
try this link

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-GALAXY-SEAT-ALHAMBRA-VW-SHARAN-ETC-2-BUTTON-REMOTE-ALARM-UNCUT-KEY-FOB-/170869178232?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27c898bf78
It's for the two button remote key, otherwise if you want the flip key remote have a look at the previous posts and the part number to look for is in there, the Galaxy only ever came with the 2 button remote, also you'll have to get the key programmed to the car.

As above the Galaxy never had a flip key.
Just so everyone's clear if you do go for the flip key its not a case of just getting it programmed to the car. You'll need to take it apart, drill out the VW transponder, bore out a hole in the plastic and then fit a (longer, wider) ford transponder. You can then have it programmed to the car ;)

Yes you can programme the remote only( to lock/unlock the car), to start the car with the key you will need to get it coded to the car, either a good auto-locksmith or Ford dealer.

To code the remote(Lock/Unlock only):

Galaxy 2000.75 only

• NOTE: A maximum of four remote transmitters can be programmed to the generic electronic module (GEM). Programming must be carried out at the same time for all the remote transmitters.

• NOTE: Before attempting to enter programming mode, make sure that the vehicle battery is fully charged and that the anti-theft alarm system is not armed or triggered.

• NOTE: If the programming mode ends with no new remote transmitters programmed, remote transmitters originally programmed will remain operational.

• NOTE: After the first remote transmitter has been successfully programmed all the previously stored remote transmitters will be erased.

• NOTE: The GEM will exit programming mode automatically if four remote transmitters have been programmed or if no new remote transmitter has been programmed within the 15 second programming mode.

 1. Close all the vehicle doors.

 2. NOTE: Make sure the door lock cylinder is held in the unlock position for more than 0.5 seconds.

Insert the key into the driver door lock cylinder and turn the key from the rest position to the unlock position three times within five seconds.

 3. The door lock light emitting diodes (LEDs) will illuminate for 15 seconds during the remote transmitter programming mode, allowing the remote transmitter to be programmed.

 4. Remove the key from the driver door lock cylinder and aim the remote transmitter at the interior rear view mirror.

 5. Press and hold the LOCK button on the remote transmitter.

 6. While holding the LOCK button down, press the UNLOCK button three times on the remote transmitter.

 7. Release both buttons simultaneously.

 8. Make sure the door lock LEDs flash five times, confirming that the remote transmitter has been programmed.

 9. After a remote transmitter has been successfully programmed, the GEM will reset the programming mode, allowing a further 15 seconds to program the next remote transmitter.

 10. To program additional remote transmitters, repeat steps 4 to 7.

 11. Make sure that all the doors lock and unlock, confirming that the GEM is no longer in programming mode.

 12. Test all the programmed remote transmitters, by activating and deactivating the locking and unlocking functions.

Is it not the case that the transponder chip can be programmed using a master key in the ignition and the after a few key turns et.c you insert the new key and that syncs the chip to the car? Or was that the mk1 (or did I dream it......)?

I was told, but can't say that it works that you could programme another key IF you had TWO ORIGINAL programmed keys, but I have never tried this so can't say if it does or doesn't work. I know you can do it with other Fords just not sure about the Galaxy
