Headlight Alignment

The factory Xenons on my Galaxy MkII has the dipped beams aligned fine and it recently passed an MOT. My main beams are a different story all together with both pointing to the left hand side of the road.

I know from previous work which adjuster is the height control, but will adjusting the other (horizontal??) one wreck my low beam adjustment or is the horizontal adjuster only for the main beams?

How can I pull my main beams across to point down the centre of the road as without doing this they are pretty much useless.

The horizontal adjustment is for both high and low. If you look at the high beam reflector you'll see its integral to the xenon lens so they both move together - If the low beam is correct then the high beam should follow by the very nature of this.

Its worth checking the main lamps are a) H7 and b) inserted correctly as I've seen them put in on a skew which will cause this sort of weird light pattern.

Hi Mirez

You were absolutely right, the H7 bulb was not seated properly - you could hardly see it unless looking from the front of the lamp and noticing the tip of the bulb was offset.

I've reseated the bulb - a headlight out job with Xenons - and things are much better.

I've also been to my local testing wall and adjusted the offside lamp unit as I realised that this one was still a little too far to the nearside.

The main beam is much better now, and the dips still focus to a single pattern on the road so all is well  :)
