hurrah! the pollen filter is out.
« on: October 27, 2012, 11:27:11 AM »
Thanks to the write up from Mirez or i would never have done it ;D
I took the wiper mechanism out and it is an easy job. my only slip up was that i put the wipers in the vertical position, but the mechanism would not come out, so i bolted it back up and switched the wipers back on to down, this makes the arms smaller and hey presto, with the air box removed, its a dodle.
Taking a look behind me, there is a big pile of plastic panels :D just got to put it back together now :o

I did this same job today on mine. I could only remove one wiper arm so I had to work with the wiper motor in place. Wot a job and with only 2 minor scratches on my right hand knucles I recon I came away unscathed. But I was swearing at the dumbass Ford engineers that think shit looks good on a computer screen but forget some poor bugger will need to do the donkey work

Thanks to Mirez and site for topic guide.
Eventually managed to work a new filter in situ, but a task to put it midly.

Wanted to go the sensible route, but I also had the problem with the wiper arms, took off bolts but neither seemed to want to budge.

Is there a knack to getting them off or can some sieze on?

Sorry I meant, I removed the wiper nuts (not bolts), but the wiper arms were resistant, no sign of wanting to come off.
Scared I would break something.

Pop some penetrating oil on them and leave to soak overnight, it's then a case of copious wiggling :)
