Instrument cluster details urgently needed
« on: August 11, 2014, 11:34:56 PM »
Does anyone have a Galaxy Mk II, 1.9 TDi 130bhp, 6 speed manual with a high-line instrument cluster - I'm desperate for the part number of the cluster, it appears that Ford may have listed it incorrectly, just a matter of using VCDS to establish the part number, I shall be most grateful, thank you

I have a 2005 TDI 130 Ghia six speed with the half FIS display (trip computer but not built in sat-nav so only the bottom half of the middle section is dot matrix display).

VCDS-LITE gives

Component and/or Version:  KOMBI NSTRUMENT VDO V61
Software Coding:                  13401
Work Shop Code:                  WSC 00020

Hi, thanks for replying. Don't know if I'll be that good at explaining but will try...the display in the middle of the two dials on mine is "fully"used so, when I have the radio or sat nav on it uses the whole display, I gather some only use a part of it. I'm sure someone on here may be able to explain better than me! Does your car have sat nav?

It's to do with the size of the display sat between the speedo and tacho dials- the below image is a half FIS variant, as you can see, only the lower half of the window is formed of a dot matrix display. The full FIS version uses all of this window for a dot matrix display as it gives commands and pointer arrows relating to the sat-nav.

I would imagine anybody with a late model Mk2 TDI manual (not sure if the auto has a different cluster or just different programming) equipped with factory fitted sat-nav should be able to help, the power output shouldn't matter. Trouble is, it's a fairly specific set of requirements!

The auto will be very different - the pulses are much lower (or higher I forget) but by a factor of about 3x

That looks spot on as do your vehicle specs, should be just the info the O.P needs!   [GJ]

I've made a mistake on my car details :(   , it was built 29.12.2005 but is actually a 55 plate 2006.It's on a private plate and I still forget it's a 2006 even though I've had for over 1 year now.
Hope it's still some use though and sorry for the duff info.

One last thing, do you happen to know (or does anyone know) what the Ford part number is?

I don't think that's the Ford part number, should it be something like "YM21 10849......"?

Nope, that's the VW engineering number. I believe that was in the info Loontoon posted......

EDIT- Sorry, I misread. A YM21XXXXXX reference is a Ford engineering number, but not a Ford part number as I'm used to refering to them- to me, a Ford part number is a seven digit numerical code, which is the FINIS number.

sorry, I'm totally confused now, I thought the number 7M5920940Q is the VW number and the YM21 ***** *** number would be the Ford number?

Yes, the 7M5 920 940 Q reference is VW's part number for the unit, and 1220553 is Ford's FINIS (part) number for it. Ford probably do have their own engineering number (which would likely be YM21-XXXXXX etc) for it but as the unit was likely made by VW on Ford's behalf it's unlikely (though not impossible) you'll actually find it anywhere on the unit itself.

With Ford parts they have a FINIS number for cataloguing parts inventory/stock and an engineering number which relates to the specification of the item itself, with VW I think they just use the single (e.g 7M) reference.
