Lo tech fix for an annoyance
« on: July 31, 2020, 05:09:34 PM »
Every time I've removed the battery cover I've lost/found one
of the bloody screws because it had a missing captive washer.

Sometimes I'd put the screw in a 'safe place' and then forget where
that 'safe place' actually was and spend ages hunting for it
Much effing and blinding usually ensued.

Before I put it back on today I used some material from a milk bottle
and scissors to fashion a locking washer
There, get lost now ya little *&^%$£@

Very impressive old skool solution from a very impressive person. I love little “hacks” like this. So clever and handy to know! Thank u for sharing!

I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all.

Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.
