Title: MAF sensor plug
Post by: Graydan on October 06, 2016, 03:22:01 PM
Hi, I am a new member on here so apologies if this has been put on here before.

Does anyone have or know where I can get this (see pic).

I need the plug and about 6inch of the wiring loom that's attached into the plug as the wiring on mine has split very close to the plug so not able to repair it.

Thanks in advance.

You could try vw using the part number that's on it or a scrap yard and chop one off. Any VAG car with same engine should have same maf and plug so does not need to be a galaxy.

Thanks for your reply. I've already been round several scrap yards with no luck and I've looked on all the vw's to but they've all gone sadly.

Must be a common failure  :(

VW are usually quite good with availability of repair parts for wiring looms- as long as it isn't obsolete, I'll have a trawl through the parts diagrams later and see if it's listed. Waste of time asking Ford.

The Mk1 engine bay wiring loom parts diagrams are a bit of a minefield but what age Galaxy do you have and do you know what it's engine code is?

EDIT:
Found it, it's number 59 on this (http://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/sharan+syncro+4motion/sha/1998-162/9/971-971050/) parts diagram here, unfortunately it looks like if you ordered it from VW all you would actually get is the connector body (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/housing/3a0973713/) and no wiring, which isn't much use. I can't see a repair piece comprising of the body and a piece of loom listed so that's not really much help. It is possible to dismantle those wiring plugs but they're very fiddly, there are special tools to do it but they're not likely to be available outside of the automotive trade. Very fine jewellers screwdrivers might allow you to accomplish the same thing but by far the easiest option would be to find an old VW with the same engine which you can chop a piece of the loom off of.

You can buy a used one with a bit of loom from Texas USA (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audi-Connector-Plug-3A0973713-Wiring-Harness-Housing-/282012882039)! Unfortunately the shipping costs more than the part.......  ::)

It may have to be that one on eBay at this rate because I can not for the life of me find one off a scrapper.

Thank you for your time and help really appreciate it.
