Title: My Mileage long run, and the total Mileage
Post by: bob smith on August 23, 2018, 12:09:35 pm
Hi All
Just wondering how accurate the MPG indicator is on these cars.
I can get upto 53 mpg on a long run, that seems a lot, very happy if so. :)
Also mine has done 163,000 miles
What is the highest these do
I saw one advertised at 239.000!!
I'm sure some off you have higher.
Cheers bob

I never managed anywhere near that in mine think max I ever had was 40mpg,but I did used to keep the revs up a bit to get temp in VNT and exhaust to reduce the carbon build up.

As for mileage if looked after the PD can soldier on for hundreds of thousands, saw a Passat AWX engine on 270k and I was in a touran taxi not so long back with 300k showing

Recently got the wife a TDI auto that started as a 115 but has been mapped to 140. I did 62mpg actual on the 140 mile run home. Locally it's been hitting about 34mpg actual.

That's calculated by fill to fill, the gauge seems to read a bit higher than reality.

Years ago I had a 52 plate A4 with the same engine albeit the 130, I had that mapped to 160 and it would happily get mid 60s on a lomg run. Took that car from 80k to 210k and it never skipped a beat. Most of those miles were on bio aswell.

I get about 44 checked by fill to fill with mixed motorway and urban use on a 130.My Passat 130 did around 50 and had covered over 250k and still ran like a dream.

One of my lads lives in Middlesbrough and when visiting from here in Bristol
I get about 52mpg fill to fill which I'm happy with
That's mostly motorway driving and only a few err 'enthusiastic' stints
where safe to do so
(just to clear the pipes y' understand)
Round town dunno
93K on the clock so hopefully lots of miles left in it
