Did you have the symptoms before the cam belt/water pump change?

If you can hear gas bubbles in the system then that's not a good sign, is the vehicle losing coolant, or is there still pressure in the system if you unscrew the header tank cap when the engine/ coolant is completely cold? Any discolouration of the coolant visible?

Its not uncommon given the size of the coolant runs for these to have airlocks if they are refilled too quickly. Since most garages only care about time, its quite possible you have an airlock. Drain the system down and then refill... slowly!

In that case I would start by checking the return pipe to the bottle is not blocked.
With the engine warm and running and with the cap removed you should be able to see a small amount of coolant returning to the bottle.
If there's not the restrictor in the pipe may be blocked.

there is still preasure in system when cap is taken off the next day   , had all pipes off expansion tank  the pipe with the restrictor  will allow water both ways    as sprayed water thru hose pipe

Most certainly head gasket failure, check head face when removed as skimming will most likely be needed.

Well me and Chris normally agree of most things but personally, I wouldn't say its a certainty at all!  ;)

If it were mine, I would drain down the coolant - remove and check the thermostat and whilst there, confirm that a new pump was actually fitted (and not just invoiced). With the stat removed you can also check that the impeller is turning and not spinning. Finally, I'd refill very slowly (using the same stuff if need be).

Worst case and its not an air lock, its only cost you some time that way.
