Remote key
« on: August 26, 2020, 09:19:03 PM »
Yes it´s me again, I can hear you all groaning.
The new/old Galaxy came with two keys a plain one and a two button one.
Both are mechanically identical and both start the car
However if one uses the remote key the engine only runs for a few seconds then cuts out.
Any ideas chaps?
The remote key sets the alarm but as the central locking doesn´t work doesn´t do anything useful otherwise.
I can live with this but I am curious.
Thanks again

Sounds like an issue with the immobiliser chip in remote key

I'd guess the one that doesn't start the car is missing the chip, most likely it fell out when battery in key was changed. If it's a Galaxy rather than Sharan or Alhambra then forscan can be used to program a replacement.

Loads more detail in this recent thread. If you can obtain a precoded id44 transponder, you don't need the zedbull bits either.
