Remote locking problem.
« on: March 31, 2014, 04:16:53 PM »
Went out yesterday - stopped at 2-3 places - remote locked perfectly each time as it has done 100% previously.

But got home - and unable to remote lock.
Tried at several other places whilst out today in case of wireless interference but not working anywhere.

Details:

Remote lock - key LED flashes on button press but no response at all from the car - no locking, no indicator flash, no door LED flashing. HOWEVER, remotely UNLOCKING works 100% perfectly.

Think battery OK esp as the unlock process works fine... even 20 yards from car.

Manual locking/unlocking with key works perfectly.
2 second lock - does 'global closing' perfectly - open windows shut, door LED flashes after 30 secs all per book. 2 second unlock - unlocks, all windows open as per book.

Key re-programmed as per book and below.
Key in lock...turn to unlock position for 0.5 secs and back 3 times within 5 secs...remove key from lock... door LED illuminates...point key at car and hold down lock button (within 5 secs) and press unlock button 3 times and release lock button (complete this sequence within 15 seconds)...door LED flashes. All LEDs indications are given as they should be. However, still no remote LOCKING but UNLOCKING OK.

Ideas anyone, please?

So seems to be a wireless transmission/reception problem as all mechanical and local electrical (ie door switches) methods work???

1)Possibly the PCB within the keyfob has micro cracking. Its fairly common unfortunately and whilst the LED will flash it won't actually transmit - normally you can't recode the key when that happens though which leads me on to...
2)The system thinks the drivers door is still open or the key is still in the ignition - it won't allow the doors to be remotely locked in that case. Do you have VCDS? You should be able to see the open/closed state of the doors using that.

Hi I have the same problem every now and again the key fob will not lock the doors 90% of the time it does. I have a change the battery in a long time but the key has been dropped several times by everybody at some point. Is it possible to have the PCB be changed?

just buy another key and then code it to your car(central locking)and transplant the original pats chip into it.

I would be checking the loom before I bought anything----and have your soldering iron handy ?

Ive had problems with my remote since i got my galaxy - bought a tester to see if it was transmitting - and it was but only now and then - took it apart and pressed buttons while holding it on battery and it worked every time !! conclusion - look at the underside of your remote buttons - you may find that the plastic has worn away and only connects with a really firm press with the end of your finger - anybody know where to get new cases from ?

Yeah you should be able to get one on there, the Galaxy uses the VW fob case that was pretty much the norm for all of their models before the flip keys.
