Title: Replacing the galaxy with what? VW Tiguan VS Ford Kuga? Thoughts please
Post by: Abaumber on December 28, 2017, 10:28:04 PM
Well my old bus has taken me 220K miles but and has been very reliable in that time but its just failed its MoT with a big ol' list to fix so the time has come to wave goodbye and move on to something else.

I no longer need 7 seats regularly so I'm looking at something smaller and am contemplating the VW Touran. It still have the 7 seats for those rare occasions but I'm struggling to find a decent example as they all seem to be poverty spec without leather or xenons etc. I'm not a fan of the C-Max so not considering that but I do like the Kuga. If I'm looking at midsize suvs then I should consider the Tiguan as well and probably the Skoda Yeti.

Can anyone shed some thoughts on those models or suggest another I should take a look at?

Tourans are nearly all S or SE spec which is the base and mid spec. Sport is the top model for them but is still far from being lavish. I only found a handful in the 6 months of looking that had either xenons or leather or a sunroof. Have a look at LHD versions as they are far more abundant with good spec!

The Kuga is a bit smaller then the Tiguan I believe, spec wise you'll find a lot of decent vw tiguans just because they have been out a little longer and have a bigger userbase.

You'll get better fuel economy from a Touran unless you opt for a 2wd Tiguan but they are quite rare which will limit your spec levels again.

What are the 'must haves' for you?

@Mirez  I want xenons, heated seats and satnav. Dont much mind what else it has or hasn't got.

@daddyfixit I've ruled out anything by vauxhall and Kia. Looked at the Citroen range but didnt like the build quality. The Touran, Tiguan, Kuga are essentially all I am looking at now although I may have a little look at the the Ford Edge if its not to big and maybe even the VW T-Roc

That’s a big old list of failure items! Can see why you are on the search for replacement.

No. Should have thought twice before buying a car that's lived on the coast but live and learn huh! Are the new ones all galvanised?
