 :(
Hi everyone. I own Ford Galaxy 1999, TD WGR 1,9 81KW, I have a problem with the speaker of the driver's door. When I was opening the door, the sound stops, then I had to close the door and rise the volume to the highest to let the sound come back again to that speaker. But today not anymore, the sound doesn't come from this speaker anymore even when I try the trick with the volume.

Can someone please show me how to disassemble the door so that I can check if a wire is cut or if I have to change the speaker?
With pictures if possible please.
Thanks for any comment or reply!

Thanks for the reply. I did that, all wires look fine, no single break. The door behind the driver's door had 2 broken wires under the rubber you talked about and I repaired them.
But in the driver's door case, it is not under that rubber. I assume somewhere near the speaker or a wire is loose.

Have you tried manipulating the wiring with door open and radio on to see if you get anything from the speaker? I find it highly unlikely it is within the door itself if problem occurred while opening the door.
Because wires look ok does not necessarily mean the wiring is ok it could be broken inside but insulation still intact

If you do go down the route of taking the door card off, then it prises off from inside. Can't remember if theres many screws on the mk1 as I haven't got mine anymore, but I seem to remember having to remove the bit behind the door handle first. They have be a couple of screws on the bottom edge as well. You want some of the yellow clips as some will break on taking it off. A Trim clip remover can be helpful to have though.

I'd also suggest checking the multiplug before you start pulling the door apart, the connector can come unplugged in part from either side. It twists to undo it, but be aware you might loose the bit that sits inside the pillar when you undo it as it does drop back in if the retaining ring has come undone (can be sorted but you need to get your fingers around the back end of the connector)

Just because the wires look Ok doesn't mean they are
The conductors can break while the insulation stays intact
especially in a 20 year old drivers door.

I'd start by checking/cleaning the plug terminals first
then under the boot as wires will often break at the crimps when worked

Before removing the door card I'd use a needle to pierce the insulation on the Red and Brown/Red
as far from the plug I could and test for continuity from needle to plug terminal.
this may help find a break and you can then repair and make good
leaving the card in place

If the sound comes back when you whack the volume up sounds more like a sticking cone on the speaker to me.Easy enough to prove just carefully press the cone in when it's doing it and the sound will come back if it's sticking.

Thank you everyone for your help and replies.
I checked the cables again, and found one of them cut. I don't know how I just didn't see it first time.
Problem solved without taking off the door, thanks to you all.

Thank you, it is pleasing to hear this.
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all.
