VW Sharan Driver Door Master Control Issues
« on: April 02, 2020, 07:43:15 PM »
My remote key will not lock or unlock driver door.
Pressing central lock on driver door will not lock or unlock driver door
Cannot open windows from driver door control panel
Can close windows from driver door control panel if window has been open at each door
Cannot adjust mirrors from driver
Sometimes passenger window and one rear window will open slightly when I lock car, I can then close window from driver door by pressing the switch for that window, up or down closes the window.
Everybody mentions wiring loom, but I can hear a click at each door, other than drivers, when I try to open or close windows.

Would appreciate any help please ?

You really need to check the wiring loom as that is the main failure point and everything seems to point to drivers door loom failing despite the click from other doors

I'd suspect the main thick wire on the loom in the drivers door itself has snapped (in the bit where the door hinges out from the door post). Sounds like the drivers door is getting signals, but not the power to drive lock etc. you will probabbly find other wires in there are broken as well, other possibility is that the plug in the door pillar itself has been taken apart and part of the connector has popped out when its been reinstalled. Its made up from several connectors clipped together, and can play up when disturbed.

Thanks for your feedback, you were 100% correct, the thick brown wire had snapped.
Unfortunately a few tabs on the door gator lock ring broke off, so I can't get it back on.
I have search the internet and cannot find anywhere to buy one.

Would appreciate any pointers ?

Cheers

They are generally quite rubbish, I've just pushed it from behind (you can just get a finger round inside the door pillar to put enough pressure onto it) and managed to get it back together at that. If the connector is locked together it can't move very much anyway. Been quite a while since i took them apart, but I seem to remember finding you could flip them over and put them in backwards to hold it together.

The part numbers shown on microcat show two sizes of ring, I'd suspect the rear doors might be the smaller size but can't tell you for sure, so you'd need to check that. (easy for you to do with measuring hopefully) See the screenshot attached to make sure we are talking about the right part (number 3 in the pic)

1108987 is the 57mm
7245650 is the 52mm

This site appears to have them available, though you may find they can't get them when you ask if they don't already have stock.

Any Ford dealer should be able to assist if the part is still current, though can't tell you if they are or not. Equally if Ford can't help, you might find a VW dealer able to source them (VW produced these upto 2010 so may have more stock left)

Pop the kick panel off and hold it from behind while securing the loom back together. One of mine bust due to old brittle plastic and that is how I got it sorted. Never bothered sourcing replacements as it worked fine like that.

Decided not to wait until tomorrow. Did exactly as you suggested, and it worked!
All electrics back to normal.

Very much appreciate your help!
