Yes it's a heat dissipator for use in warm climates.

What does it dissipate heat from please, is it for instance some sort of air conditioning or coolant pipe, thank you

Cars in moderate climates like the UK have a flat panel cooler under the car, this cools hot fuel from the cylinder head galleries on it's journey back to the tank. If the fuel returning is to hot condensation will form in the tank. Warmer climates are fitted with the extra cooler.

So impressive how u know all this sort of stuff, thank u!

I have seen the flat cooler thing under the car and always did wonder what it did, I thought perhaps it was something to do with the air conditioning but now I know!

Strange it’s in a car in the UK is it an import?  Return fuel does get rather hot mind going by heat coming off underbody cooler.

I bet with that exchanger fitted winter warm up time’s of coolant are drastically reduced unless it’s thermostat controlled?

I noticed mine has one of these when fixing the injector harness
and thought about asking what it was.
Seeing the pipework led to coolant hoses and fuel filter
I'd assumed it was a fuel heater, nearly got it right eh?
BTW
Its location would make pulling the injector harness out trickier
and one of the reasons I decided to have a go at fixing mine in situ.

Thanks for replys. My other 2 galaxies never had this, I now have seat, but same engine. It makes it a bit harder to get too fuel filter quickly. I hope it isn't thermostate controlled, as just another thing to go wrong. Cheers chaps.

I've only ever encountered one issue with them over the years which was a mechanic has plumbed it back incorrectly causing no power and limp home mode.

Otherwise no, cant imagine you'll find many issues with them given its just a micro radiator.
