Autothrottle
« on: September 17, 2020, 09:46:35 AM »
My Mondeo has a system, worked by switches on the clutch pedal I believe, that boosts revs by about 300rpm when the clutch is lifted.  The Galaxy doesn't appear to have that.  So I've been stalling a lot although, in my defence, it seems to happen much more when the engine is cold

Should there be something to assist moving off or should I be looking for a fault?

I would assume so as majority of modern diesels for this, drive ford vans of different vintages 2014 up to 2019 and they all do it so would think the galaxy should aswell. Sounds like clutch switch could be faulty/need adjusting

Sounds like a very handy feature, an automatic little blip on the throttle when you change gears. Far too many people change gears really badly and throw the passengers back and forth constantly... this would help to avoid that a bit
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all.

Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

Itís not when you change gear it is only when first pulling away as cars these days run really lean at idle. I think petrols do it aswell.
