Hi newbie having issues with 2011 galaxy

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] Hi everyone I'm new to this site and also never owned a Ford before. But due to our expanding family we needed something with 7 seats choice is somewhat limited zafira, galaxy, VW touran/sharan.

So we decided on a 2011 1.6 tdci Ford Galaxy, leather seats, great price. Took it for a test drive and all seemed fine, the guy did say due to covid-19 the car missed its last service end of January. So needs a service, there was quite a few Ford service stamps in the book.

So we thought nothing of it, however the following day on starting it from cold we noticed some shaking on acceleration and rough idling on start up as well as some stinky white smoke coming out of exhaust. I didn't think much of it, put it down to the car needing an oil change preventing the dpf from doing its self regeneration.

I ordered all the parts either genuine Ford or bosch to do service. Changed oil filter, oil (replaced with castrol) air filter, fuel filter and pollen filter. However the problem did not go away and if anything got slightly worse.

I have a feeling its the injectors, as it sounds like it's misfiring. Is this a comman problem with these galaxys. I have the 1.6 tdci Duratorq engine. But any advice, comments or pointers in the right direction would be very welcome, like I said been new to Ford not really sure what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance

First thing to do is acquire one of the pieces of diagnostic software (Forscan, Elmconfig) and a suitable lead, so that you can interrogate the electronics.  This will almost certainly flag up fault codes that will tell you what is wrong.

It's not actually so simple - quite often you need to do some detective work to derive the actual fault from the code - but it is both a start and usually a prod in the right direction.

Thank you for your comment, I tried with a cheap obd reader and no codes came up. But I remember ony volvo it needed the specialist vida dice software. I will look into it. Many thanks
