Hi All
I used to be on another Ford forum but it seems to have crashed so I am new on here.Just wanted to post about an issue that arose on my MK111 Gal which also occurred on my MK 1 Gal also. Its the matter of Limp home mode/Turbo.This happened to me whilst in France on an Autoroute when the car went into Limp mode.I got the car to my holiday home and went about fixing it the way I fixed my MK1.The turbo gets gummed up after 60000 plus miles from engine waste, tar, soot etc which sticks to the actuator rod,the turbo innards etc.A ford garage will tell you you need a new turbo normally but my fix is one or two cans of Wynns Turbo cleaner. Its cheap at £9 a can and worth every penny. You simply spray it into the air intake hose after the airbox.Once done the limp mode problem disappeared.I sue to do it every 10000 miles on the Old Gal and forgot to do it on the new one,but after the latest episode l will now do it from now on.
I post this that you can try it before going down a more expensive route. This method has been tried by three friends of mine of totally different cars but the same problem it has cured their problems also.
PS i have nothing to do with Wynns but should be on a retainer after telling my friends about it lol.
Cheers Rosie
